How to Paint Kitchen Cabinets
Nothing transforms like a fresh coat of paint no matter if its furniture, walls, fixtures or in our case kitchen cabinets. Painting eliminates years of wear and tear well bringing out the best in its most delicate features. And while relatively inexpensive and simple you just can't put a price on the life a new paint job can breathe into any room and that's the value of a fresh coat.
There are many ways to paint cabinets you can focus just on the trim, use multiple textures, alternate colors and so on. Also think about what complements your kitchen look at the counter tops, appliances, flooring, and the amount of light and decide what works best.
Today we are using a light grey one if not the most important parts of ensuring a quality paint job done right is preparation. Doing the proper prep work will save you loads of time on the back end. You'll need several rags, a screwdriver, drill, hammer, a drop cloth, eye protection, 100 grit sandpaper, primer, easy-care ultra premium paint in your choice of color and paintbrushes.
First you want to remove all cabinets and drawers then you'll need to thoroughly clean the cabinets with warm water make sure all the grease grime and dirt is removed from every surface. Next get out your sandpaper and start sanding you wanna make sure all surfaces are smooth so lightly sand any glossy surfaces.
When you're done sanding give the cabinets a quick wipe down and apply primer to the cabinets the same way you would paint making sure to cover the entire surface and all grooves. When the primers dry, begin by applying a thin coat of paint your cabinets. This allows for a better and more even distribution of paint and will pay off in the end. Now leave drawers, cabinets and doors open for several days or until paint is completely dry, that's it.
